TRIP DESCRIPTION

The Carros de Foc route is a circular high mountain route that links the various guarded shelters in the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, in the Lleida Pyrenees.

On this route we will pass by 9 of the shelters and we will stay in 2 of them. This itinerary will discover wonderful places: Aigüestortes, the lake of Sant Maurici, the mountain of Els Encantats, the Agulles d'Amitges, the Colomers cirque, the Besiberris massif, the Monestero valley,… This proposal is suitable for people with a good physical condition.

The route runs through high mountain terrain: paths, uneven terrain, scree and boulders. During the route we pass through some mountain passes at more than 2700m above sea level and occasionally it may be necessary to help ourselves with our hands to progress with more confidence and safety in some specific points. It is necessary to have previously completed routes through high mountain terrain.

Day 1: COLOMINA REFUGE – AMITGES REFUGE

Distance: 25.9km | Elevation: 2160m+ 1478 –

Start of the route at the Sallente Reservoir

Day 2:AMITGES SHELTER – VENTOSA I CALVELL SHELTER

Distance: 25.5 km | Elevation: 2022m+ 2019-

Day 3: VENTOSA I CALVELL REFUGE – SALLENTE SWAMP

Distance: 23 km | Elevation: 1650m+ 2038-

What does the price include?

  • Planning and preparing the route and monitoring the weather and terrain conditions before and during its implementation
  • Registration management and advice before the route
  • The route is carried out in guided mode with 1 qualified mountain guide specialized in trail running.
  • Accommodation in shelters in the form of Average Pension from the first day night (accommodation, dinner, breakfast).
  • Liability and Accident Insurance

What is NOT included in the price?

  • Transfer to the starting point of the Route. (we will try to share cars from Madrid)
  • The Carros de Foc ski pass (pass card, map and small gift). If you are interested, you can buy it at the first shelter we pass by. The price is €35 and is completely free. optional.
  • Food and drink not included in the contracted Half Board.
  • OPTION: half-board overnight stay on Friday (price to be confirmed)
