TRAIL RUNNING ROUTE
Trail Running Route through the Sierra de Los Porrones in search of the Cross of Mierlo.
Route full of history and legends.
The history of this cross dates back to sometime in the 19th century. El Mierlo was a shepherd who lived in La Pedriza and, according to legend, one day he came across a girl lost in the mountains of La Pedriza who had been kidnapped by bandits. Legend has it that, years after the shepherd had returned the girl to her parents, she died violently, with nothing known about the perpetrators or the true reasons for her death. It seems that he was buried under La Cruz del Mierlo, located in the Valdehalcones Pass, next to a fence that roughly marks the boundary between the Municipality of Manzanares el Real and Mataelpino.

The route can be done at any time of the year, it runs through the Cancho Porron Refuge (plus well protected bivouac area -2pers), goes through the Mierlo fountain (1214m), descending towards Mataelpino.
The tour ends passing through the Hermitage of San IsidroIt was built during the 80s and 90s thanks to the generous work of the local residents using local granite masonry. It is a reflection of the devotion that the inhabitants of El Boalo profess to San Isidro as the Patron par excellence of livestock breeders and farmers, a guild to which the vast majority of its inhabitants belonged in the past.
